| DESCRIPTION |
Kynol D® contains dexketoprofen trometamol, an analgesic, anti inflammatory and antipyretic drug, which belongs to the NSAID group of drugs. The mechanism of action of NSAIDs related to the reduction of prostaglandin synthesis by the inhibition of cyclo-oxygenase pathway. Dexketoprofen inhibits Cox-1 and Cox-2 activities. |
| INDICATIONS |
Symptomatic treatment of pain of mild to moderate intensity like musculo-skeletal pain, dental pain, dysmenorrhoea. |
| DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION |
General population:
According to the nature and severity of pain, the recommended dosage is generally 12.5 mg every 4-6 hours or 25 mg every 8 hours. The total daily dose should not exceed 75 mg. Concomitant administration with food delays the absorption rate of the drug, thus in case of acute pain it is recommended that administration is at least 30 minutes before meals.
Elderly:
In elderly patients it is recommended to start the therapy at the lower end of the dosage range (50 mg total daily dose). The dosage may be increased to that recommended for the general population only after good general tolerance has been ascertained.
Children:
Dexketoprofen has not been studied in children. Therefore, safety and efficacy have not been established and the product should not be used in children.

| CONTRAINDICATION |
Patients previously sensitive to dexketoprofen, to any other NSAID or to any of the excipients of the product, patients in whom substances with a similar action (e.g. aspirin or other NSAIDs) precipitate attacks of asthma, bronchospasm, acute rhinitis or cause nasal polyps, urticaria or angioneurotic oedema, patients with active or suspected gastrointestinal ulcer or history of gastrointestinal ulcer or chronic dyspepsia, patients who have gastrointestinal bleeding or other active bleedings or bleeding disorders, patients with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, patients with moderate to severe renal dysfunction, patients with severely impaired hepatic function, patients with haemorrhagic diathesis and other coagulation disorders, during pregnancy and lactation period. |
| SIDE-EFFECTS |
Neurtopenia, thrombocytopenia, anaphylactic reaction including shock, nausea, vomiting, vertigo, headache, dizziness, anxiety, vertigo, palpitaion, gastritis, dry mouth, flatulence. |
| PRECAUTIONS |
Safety of the drug has not been established in children. Caution should be exercised in patients with impairment of hepatic renal or cardiac functions. |
| USE IN PREGNANCY AND LACTATION |
Dexketoprofen is contraindicated in pregnancy. There in no well controlled study of dexketoprofen on lactating mother, therefore should be used with caution. |
| DRUG INTERACTIONS |
Dexketoprofen may enhance the effect of anticoagulants. It increases the blood lithium level. Increases haematological toxicity of methotrexate, increases hypoglycemic effect of sulfonylurea and may decrease antihypertensive effect of beta-blockers as like other NSAIDs do. |
| OVERDOSE |
In case of accidental or excessive intake, immediately institute symptomatic therapy according to the patient's clinical condition. Activated charcoal should be administered if more than 5 mg/kg has been ingested by an adult or a child within an hour. Dexketoprofen trometamol may be removed by dialysis. |
| PHARMACEUTICAL PRECAUTION |
Store in a cool, dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children. |

Kynol D® film coated tablet: Box containing 6 strips of 10 tablets each. Each tablet contains Dexketoprofen trometamol INN equivalent to dexketoprofen 25 mg.
